The problem
The classic commentaries on the daily readings are in the public domain but buried in scanned books. Putting them next to the day’s readings, in a page that loads instantly, makes them usable.
What I built
- A pipeline that builds one database of the liturgical calendar, verse text and commentary from Haydock, the Catena Aurea, Cornelius a Lapide and Augustine.
- One page per liturgical day with Douay-Rheims and KJVA text side by side, a month calendar and a home page for today.
- A fully static site generated from the database, so hosting costs nothing and pages are fast everywhere.
