The problem
Whether you need a permit to take down a tree in New Jersey depends on the town, and whether the business you hire is registered is a separate state lookup. Homeowners need both answers in one place.
What I built
- A pipeline that cleans the state registration list, geocodes businesses and matches them to municipalities.
- Town-by-town ordinance summaries with a finder on the home page.
- A strict contract between the data and the site: the build fails if the data is malformed or the registrations were last verified more than 45 days ago.
- A corrections page and a public explanation of how the data is checked.
